Function / Content

This series consists of an alphabetical index of miners rights issued from the Mines Branch, Head Office. The volume was divided into alphabetical sections and entries were made according to the surname of the applicant. Each page in the volume was divided into columns for the following information; name, number of miner's right, expiry date. The last two column headings (number and expiry date) were repeated four times across the page. The front of the volume is annotated "superseded by index cards, 1/5/1959". A Darwin office of the Mines Branch operated during 1946-1953 and was then merged with the Mines Branch, Head Office, when it was moved from Alice Springs back to Darwin.
